3 Tips for Clearer Skin

Everyone wants to have clear skin. While it isn’t always cited as an attractive feature on its own, it tends to be one of the more powerful defining aspects of beauty in any culture. However, it can also be one of the ones nature seems to work hardest against. Maintaining clear skin can be a major chore if you aren’t sure what is effective. There are many different ideas out there about what works and what doesn’t, but you can’t use them all at once. The following are three things that work for most people, and might work for you.

First and foremost, if you are going to use a product to try to deal with breakouts, you want one that contains salicylic acid. A dilute concentration of salicylic acid can bust the dead skin, sebum and other built-up substances that cause acne like nearly nothing else, and it tends not to be very expensive, either. It’s lost on some of us why there isn’t more marketing for this as an active ingredient when it has served us so faithfully.

If you are dealing with an individual blemish, apply tea tree oil as soon as you spot it. Tea tree oil can be strong-smelling and a little uncomfortable, and it won’t necessarily eliminate the blemish. What it is likely to do is even out your skin tone, however, so that the blemish won’t be seen as easily. The sooner you apply it, the sooner your skin will have time to get with the program. It’s not as good as getting rid of the blemish to begin with, but it’s absolutely better than nothing if you’re in a pinch.

Pores are very good at accumulating dirt and other gunk, but what tends to cause problems is dead skin, oil and sebum. These can all be exacerbated by too much or too little scrubbing. Be gentle with your face, especially if you are prone to breakouts. Cleaning too hard is worse than not cleaning at all, in many cases.

These are just three tips for clearer skin. Obviously, there are quite a few more out there. However, these three tend to be the most reliable.
